Client: Kibbutz Sdot Yam
Landscape Architecture: Berabim Landscape Architecture
Designer: Amir Sherman
In the heart of the old kibbutz in Sdot Yam, near the coastline, we were asked to renovate two old playgrounds.
Our plan focused on the functionality of the playgrounds as active public spaces and on their correspondence with the surrounding educational facilities and neighbourhoods.
In the design of the gardens we used natural materials that are identified with the open space of a kibbutz and with the seashore, that were suitable to the salinity of the air by the sea.
The gardens include game elements in logs, manipulations of the topography, planting of local vegetation and the construction of sand surfaces as a substrate for play facilities.
